What Happened

Police are currently working to determine what happened in a two-vehicle crash that killed a woman at FM 969 in Bastrop County, TX on January 26th, 2023. Officers say it happened around 1:14 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 2500 operated by 26-year-old John Brooks and a Chevrolet Equinox operated by 41-year-old Judith Kiely were the vehicles involved. It has been alleged that the Dodge was headed eastbound while the Chevrolet was traveling westbound. At some point, one of the vehicles traveled into the opposite lane at a curve in the road and both collided. Investigators were not yet able to say definitely which vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction. The collision left Kiely with fatal injuries. Brooks was seriously injured.
