What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at Gateway in El Paso, TX on January 1st, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 3;20 a.m. Investigators believe a Toyota Rav4 operated by 31-year-old Karla Lugo was eastbound before changing lanes in an effort to avoid a collision with another vehicle ahead. Reports allege that in the process of doing so, the Toyota collided with the rear of a commercial van ahead. The impact was severe enough that Lugo was fatally injured, reports indicate.
