What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured at least one person on US 181 in Karnes County, TX on August 12th, 2021. Officials have said the crash happened around 8:03 a.m. A GMC Sierra operated by 62-year-old Keith Rippstein was previously stopped at a stop sign on Calvert Ave then it reportedly failed to yield to oncoming northbound traffic and pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer. The two vehicles collided and the Sierra ended up veering from the road and crashing through a fence. Rippstein was seriously injured. His passenger, 88-year-old Dorothy Rippstein, was evaluated for possible injuries. The truck driver was also evaluated for possible injuries.
