What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a woman at FM 989 in Bowie, TX on October 19th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Investigators say a commercial truck collided with the rear of a Jeep Wrangler slowing in traffic. In the impact, police say the vehicle was pushed into a Chevrolet Silverado stopped ahead of it, creating a chain-reaction crash. Reports indicate 51-year-old Jeep passenger, Kelly Gilchrist, was seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the Jeep had less serious injuries, reports say. Authorities say there were no other reported injuries and sources show a Failure to Control Speed charge recommended and/or issued against the commercial truck operator.
