What Happened

Lubbock Police have information on a crash that killed a pedestrian at 34th St and West Loop in Lubbock, TX on November 7th, 2022. Police say the incident happened just before 8 a.m. A pair of vehicles were reportedly previously involved in a crash that saw both vehicles end up in a shoulder. 32-year-old Kelly Tekell is said to have stopped and exited her vehicle to assist with the individuals involved in the collision as a pickup truck operated by 19-year-old Vance Worley approached. Th truck is said to have went right to avoid a crash with another vehicle and ended up hitting one of the two vehicles involved in the earlier crash. It also struck both Tekell and one of the driver, 19-year-old Corbin Thompson. Both were taken to an area hospital with injuries Tekell later died from. Thompson is said to be in stable condition.
