What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 59 in Sugar Land, TX on March 20th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:56 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 25-year-old Julian Requena was headed southbound in an HOV lane when it collided with the rear of an unoccupied police vehicle that was blocking the shoulder and HOV lane at an angle. The impact caused the vehicle to spin and strike a second parked vehicle that was unoccupied before an approaching Jeep Renegade collided with the vehicles. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Kelsey Lopez, suffered serious injuries. Requena also suffered serious injuries and reports indicate two charges for Intoxication Assault were recommended and/or issued against him.
