What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-20 in Parker County, TX on July 31st, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 7:53 p.m. A Kia Rio operated by 27-year-old Kimberly Jewett is accused of failing to yield right of way as a GMC Sierra operated by 22-year-old Quade Turner was exiting a private drive. The Kia is said to have attempted to avoid the collision between the two by steering right while the Sierra did the same before veering north. The Sierra hit the rear of the Kia in the process and the Kia spun into a parked vehicle as a result. Jewett suffered serious injuries and was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way. Turner and his passengers were uninjured. Investigators allege that Turner had been drinking. Additional details were not available.
