What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a woman at I-20 in Van Zandt County, TX on January 13th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10:50 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 36-year-old Red Wing, MN man was headed westbound in an outside lane of I-20 while a Toyota Tundra operated by 25-year-old Richard Green was in an inside lane. According to investigators, the Tundra changed lanes into the outside lane and began to brake as traffic ahead slowed. The tractor-trailer is said to have failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of the Tundra, pushing it from the road and causing it to overturn several times. Green was not injured, however, his 24-year-old passenger, Lacy Anne Green, suffered minor injuries. An infant in the vehicle was evaluated for possible injuries while the Red Wing man was uninjured. Records indicate a Failure to Control Speed charge was recommended and/or issued.
