Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at County Rd 605 in Johnson County, TX on July 3rd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 2:37 p.m. A Mercury Cougar operated by 73-year-old Larry Wayne Gumpert was, according to police, allegedly operating while Gumpert was under the influence of alcohol. As a result, the vehicle ran a stop sign and continued directly into a ditch where it struck a a metal pipe and wood panel fence. Gumpert was seriously injured and issued a Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container.
