What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash that injured several people at State Hwy 95 in Bell County, TX on January 28th, 2022. Police say it happened around 5:38 p.m. and involved three vehicles. The first, a Chevrolet Traverse operated by 41-year-old Matthew Wernecke, was headed northbound on Hwy 95. Investigators say it veered from the road for unknown reasons and struck a guardrail before ending up on the southbound side of traffic. The second vehicle, a Kia Soul operated by 59-year-old Laurel Grant, was headed southbound when it veered into a guardrail while attempting to avoid the Traverse. The vehicles collided, causing Grant serious injuries, and the Traverse went into a skid and struck a Dodge Journey with multiple occupants aboard. Three, including the 24-year-old driver, were seriously injured while one suffered minor injuries and two others were evaluated for possible injuries. Wernecke was not injured and records indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was recommended or issued.

Already have the police report? You might need an "Open Records Packet"

If that's not enough information, you might need an Open Records Packet. An ORP is essentially all evidence that the authorities have collected. It usually contains photos, witness statements, measurements, and more and goes way beyond the police report.
