What Happened

Area authorities have details on a wrong-way collision that injured two people at I-35 in Waxahachie, TX on December 26th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 4:25 a.m. Investigators say a Chrysler 300 operated by an unidentified driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate before it collided head-on with a GMC Sierra operated by a 30-year-old Dallas man. The impact pushed the Chrysler head-on into a Chevrolet Suburban before a second Suburban struck the first, which overturned. Two additional vehicles collided with the others before the driver of the Chrysler fled the scene on-foot prior to police arriving at the scene. A 22-year-old woman in one of the vehicles was seriously injured as was another passenger of the same vehicle, Lorena Ramirez Rodriguez. No other injuries were reported.
