What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at FM 2444 in Corpus Christi, TX on October 30th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 8:34 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan 370Z operated by 48-year-old Ronald Couch was headed southbound on Staples St when it struck a jersey barrier for unknown reasons. The impact caused the vehicle to travel airborne before landing and spinning into an incorrect lane, into the path of a Lexus sedan. The two vehicles collided, seriously injuring both Couch and the driver of the Lexus, identified as 65-year-old Luis De La Garza Cano. Officers say a DWI charge was recommended and/or issued.
