What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at State Hwy 81 in Hillsboro, TX on January 28th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:11 p.m. According to investigators,  a Nissan Frontier operated by 47-year-old Luis Manuel De Luna was headed southbound on State Hwy 81 before turning right. Police say the vehicle failed to yield right of way at a yield sign while attempting to cross a main lane and entered into the path of a tractor-trailer. The vehicles collided, causing fatal injuries to De Luna. A passenger, 41-year-old Juana Elvia De Luna suffered serious injuries. Two other passengers are said to have suffered minor injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
