What Happened

Houston Police identified the person killed in a wrong-way collision on Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX on March 14th, 2022. Officials say the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Corolla was headed in the wrong direction on Gulf Freeway when it collided with a Nissan Altima. Following the collision, the driver of the Corolla, identified as Luis Maranon, exited the vehicle and was struck by a passing Buick sedan. Police allege the Buick driver admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the collision and the driver was reportedly tested for intoxication. Maranon suffered fatal injuries in the collision.
