What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed two men at FM 359 in Waller County, TX on September 8th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by 40-year-old Oscar Umanzor was northbound, nearing an intersection. At the same time, a Ford F-150 was southbound on FM 359 at the Zadelsky Rd intersection. Officials say the tractor-trailer began backing onto Zadelsky Rd and crossed a southbound lane into the path of the approaching Ford. The two vehicles collided in the process, leaving both occupants of the Ford, including 53-year-old driver Magdaleno Sanchez, identified as with fatal injuries. Officials say Umanzor was not injured and reports indicate a Backed Without Safety charge was recommended and/or issued.
