What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 259 in Rusk County, TX on December 19th, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 1:23 a.m. A Toyota Corolla operated by 37-year-old Malcolm McBath was headed southbound on US 259 when it veered from the road, went into a skid and crashed into a large tree. The vehicle caught fire in the collision and McBath suffered fatal injuries as a result. Investigators believe McBath may have been traveling under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
