What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at I-30 in Mesquite, TX on January 14th, 2022. Officials say the incident happened around 4:11 a.m. A Nissan Sentra operated by a 20-year-old Dallas man was headed eastbound on I-30 as it approached a tractor-trailer stopped for construction traffic. Investigators say the vehicle failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of the truck. A front seat passenger died at the scene. A second passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle and hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver was transported to an area hospital and later died from his injuries. Investigators allege the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
