What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured two people at US 287 in Hardeman County, TX on August 23rd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. A commercial truck that was a part of a construction crew was making a turn to head into the construction area and failed to ensure the area was clear of other vehicles before doing so. A Chrysler 300 operated by 70-year-old Margario Chavez collided with the truck, causing him serious injuries. His passenger, 42-year-old Michael Chavez, suffered more serious injuries while the other driver was not injured and charged with Turning When Unsafe.
