What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured two drivers at FM 1430 in Starr County, TX on May 12th, 2022. Police are saying it happened around 3:08 p.m. According to investigators, a GMC Canyon operated by 37-year-old Raul Garza was traveling westbound on FM 1430 as the driver allegedly became temporarily distracted while attempting to reach for a cell phone. This led to the GMC colliding with a Mercedes-Benz operated by 44-year-old Maria Moreno that was parked in a shoulder. The collision left Moreno with serious injuries and Garza minor injuries. Officers recommended and/or issued a Failure to Drive in Single Lane charge.
