Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 67 in San Angelo, TX on August 21st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 12:58 a.m. A Ford Explorer operated by 36-year-old Matthew Scott Van Zandt is accused of veering from the road and crashing through a construction zone. The vehicle crashed through several objects before eventually landing on its roof against a pillar. Van Zandt suffered serious injuries and was cited for Disregarding Barricade. Investigators believe that Van Zandt may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
