What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 281 in Hidalgo County, TX on September 16th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 4:28 p.m. A Mazda Tribute operated by 52-year-old Michelle Martinez is accused of traveling into the path of a tractor-trailer and creating a collision between the two that sent the Tribute into a median. Once there, the vehicle was unable to regain control and overturned, causing Martinez serious injuries. Responding officers noted that the vehicle allegedly smelled of alcohol as did Martinez and suspected that alcohol played a factor in the collision. The other driver suffered no injuries in the crash.
