What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a two vehicle crash that killed all involved at TX 185 and 1st St in Bloomington, TX on October 23rd, 2021. Police say it happened around 9:54 p.m. A Dodge Ram operated by 34-year-old Steven Carreon is accused of failing to control its speed and colliding with the rear of a Nissan Altima. The Altima was stopped at a railroad crossing as a train was passing. The impact from the collision was severe enough that the Altima was pushed into the passing train and crushed as a result. The Dodge overturned and collided with the Altima. Both the driver of the Altima, 51-year-old Minerva Torres and her passenger, 19-year-old Liliana Torres, were killed on impact. Carreon was hospitalized with injuries that he died from the following day. Investigators say Carreon was suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the collision.
