What Happened

Mesquite Police are investigating a collision that killed a person at I-635 in Mesquite, TX on October 18th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. An Infiniti Q50 operated by 21-year-old Elias Luevano Gonzalez collided with a Chevrolet Malibu operated by 36-year-old Mitchell Rector under unclear circumstances. Police say that Rector was working off-duty in a construction zone at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. Gonzalez suffered minor injuries and was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter.
