What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that injured at least two people at US 281 in Alice, TX on July 15th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 2:45 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer is said to have suffered a tire blowout that caused it to lose control. As a result, reports say the vehicle crashed in a southbound lane before a second approaching truck struck the overturned truck. Reports say the collision injured both the driver of the second truck, 38-year-old Jeffrey Walker and an individual who stopped to assist after the initial crash, 67-year-old Mitchell Reinitz. Also injured was the driver of the firs truck, identified as 48-year-old Ricardo Betancourt. Additional information was not available.
