Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at State Hwy 146 in Baytown, TX on August 13th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:03 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet C1500 operated by 34-year-old Nicholas Dykes was northbound before striking a raised median for unknown reasons. From there, the vehicle allegedly crossed a center line into a turn lane, colliding with the front of a correctional facility van. The operator of the van, a 51-year-old Beaumont woman who was not publicly identified, is said to have been seriously injured. Dykes suffered fatal injuries.
