Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a child at FM 2854 in Montgomery, TX on July 28th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. A tractor-trailer reportedly suffered brake failure that caused the brakes to lock up and the truck to be unable to move. As it was parked in the travel lane with active hazard lights, a passenger vehicle operated by 32-year-old Nicolas Elkin, collided with the rear of the truck. A 5-year-old child in a rear passenger seat was hospitalized in critical condition. Elkin suffered fatal injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
