What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 19 near Athens, TX on October 19th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:17 p.m. A Nissan Sentra headed southbound reportedly crossed a center line under unclear circumstances and crashed head-on with a northbound Ford pickup truck. The driver of the Sentra, 21-year-old Olivia Popham, died at the scene. The other driver, 33-year-old Travis Pittman was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
