What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 19 in Van Zandt County, TX on April 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:20 a.m. According to investigators, a Kia K5 operated by 22-year-old Payton Powell was headed northbound on Hwy 19 prior to veering from the road. The vehicle first entered into a west ditch where it struck a mailbox and road sign before traveling over a driveway into a telephone pole. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and left Powell with injuries police believed were serious in nature. No other injuries were reported and officials did not have additional information to share.
