What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured three people at FM 973 in Travis County, TX on December 31st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:24 p.m. A GMC Sierra C1500 operated by a 36-year-old Austin man was headed southbound when investigators say it crossed into northbound traffic and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 24-year-old Pedro Santoyo. The impact caused the Silverado to overturn and both Santoyo and his 23-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Austin man, who was seriously injured, was charged with DWI.
