What Happened

Area authorities identified the person killed in a crash at  FM 429 in Kaufman County, TX on August 10th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8:47 a.m. A Freightliner truck operated by 32-year-old Jasson Dundee Reed was headed southbound on FM 429 when it lost control while navigating a curve in the road. Investigators allege that the vehicle was traveling at a speed not suitable to take the curve and Reed allegedly stated that he temporarily distracted due to eating at the time. The truck veered from the road and overturned as it attempted to correct back onto the road. A passenger, 59-year-old Randy Wade McNees, was ejected from the truck and suffered fatal injuries. Reed was seriously injured. Additional information was not available.
