What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed two people involved at I-20 in Ector County, TX on November 8th, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a Chevrolet Impala operated by 35-year-old Rene Cardona Jr was headed eastbound on the service road. Officials say the vehicle lost control for unclear reasons before entered into the westbound lanes. Reports say the vehicle then collided with a Hino truck operated by 69-year-old Luis Flores headed westbound. Officials say both Cardona and Flores were hospitalized, along with 52-year-old Hino truck passenger, Angelina Romero. Both Cardena and Romero later died from their injuries. Authorities did not have any additional information available.
