What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at Amarillo Blvd and Florida St in Amarillo, TX on May 24th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 7:35 p.m. Investigators say a Chevrolet Camaro was allegedly headed eastbound at a high rate of speed prior to veering out of its lane. As a result, reports say the vehicle collided with the side of a Honda Accord beginning to proceed into the intersection. The impact pushed both vehicles in the roadway and left pregnant 26-year-old Honda operator, Rocio Castejon, fatally injured. Also killed was a 6-year-old child in the Honda. Sources say the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 19-year-old Abdurahman Garang Hussein, allegedly suffered minor injuries. Sources further allege Hussein was arrested on three counts of vehicular manslaughter. Additional information was not available.
