What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a single-vehicle crash that killed a man at FM 2221 in Weslaco, TX on July 9th, 2023. Police say it happened around 5:45 a.m. According to investigators, an Acura TL operated by 22-year-old Rodrigo Rodriguez-Garcia was headed westbound at the time of the crash. At some point, the vehicle is said to have lost control and traveled airborne before landing in a nearby ditch, overturning in the process. Rodriguez-Garcia was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. At this time, police do not have any additional information available.
