What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at West Rd in Harris County, TX on March 19th, 2023. Police believe the crash happened around 2:10 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Charger operated by an unidentified 23-year-old Odessa man was being pursued by authorities, headed westbound West Rd. As this happened, a Chevrolet Equinox operated by 33-year-old Ryan Akeem Scott was stopped behind a third vehicle that may have been disabled, assisting its occupants. Police say the Dodge was traveling in excess of 120 mph when it collided with the Chevrolet, causing both vehicles to become engulfed in flames. Both the Odessa suspect and Scott were seriously injured and hospitalized. Scott passed away from his injuries on March 26th. Authorities have recommended a charge of Felony Murder.
