What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured several people at FM 917 in Burleson, TX on July 1st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 10:09 p.m. A Mitsubishi Mirage operated by an unidentified driver reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with a Ford Explorer. After the collision, the driver of the Mirage fled the scene on foot, leaving behind two passengers. One, 21-year-old Kacidy Jones suffered minor injuries. Another, a 22-year-old male, was more seriously injured. Police say neither Jones nor the other passengers revealed information regarding their driver and did state the driver had consumed alcohol prior to the crash. The driver of the Explorer, 36-year-old Sharese Alford and a passenger, 62-year-old Brenda Weaver, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
