What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a pedestrian at Loop 12 and TX 114 in Irving, TX on March 14th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:46 a.m. According to investigators, a Hyundai Elantra operated by 36-year-old Shaun Ellis was reportedly disabled in a southbound lane with Ellis standing near the vehicle. An approaching Ford Fusion operated by 39-year-old Irene Ibarra is said to have failed to control its speed and collided with the disabled Hyundai. The impact pushed the vehicle into Ellis, who suffered serious injuries. A passenger in the Fusion, 34-year-old Rebecca Herrera suffered possible injuries. Records indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was recommended and/or issued.
