What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 87 in Howard County, TX on July 21st, 2021. Police say it happened around 12:33 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 34-year-old St Louis, MO man was headed southbound on US 87 when it made a left turn onto FM 700. As it did, a Kia Optima operated by 56-year-old Simona Benavides Ramirez collided with front of the truck. The St Louis man reportedly told police that the Optima sped up as the tractor-trailer was turning. The impact caused the vehicle to veered into a shoulder and Ramirez serious injuries. The St. Louis man not injured and issued a Failure to Yield charge.
