What Happened

Lubbock Police have information pertaining to a crash that killed a teen at Slide Rd in Lubbock, TX on August 19th, 2021. Officials have said the incident happened just before 1 a.m. A Ford F-550 operated by 30-year-old Timothy Andrew Gonzalez was headed southbound on Slide Rd while a Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by 20-year-old Alexus Jackson was headed westbound on S Loop 289. The Ford is said to have struck the Jeep in the intersection and debris from the impact struck a pedestrian, 21-year-old Nathaniel Ruiz, as he was walking on the sidewalk nearby. A passenger in the Jeep, 17-year-old Kashara Jackson, died at the scene. Alexus was hospitalized with moderate injuries while Ruiz was treated for minor injuries. Gonzalez, who is accused of failing to stop and render aid, was later arrested on charges including intoxication manslaughter and evading arrest.
