What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 281 in Live Oak County, TX on January 14th, 2022. Officials say the incident happened around 2:36 p.m. A Ford Focus operated by 33-year-old Teresa Marie Marroquin was headed southbound on US 281 while a tractor-trailer operated by a 23-year0old Cookville man was headed eastbound. Investigators allege the truck failed to yield right of way while traveling across southbound US 281, causing the Ford to swerve and hit the left side of the truck. Marroquin suffered serious injuries in the collision while the Cookville man was not injured. Records show a Failure to Yield Row at Open Intersection charge was recommended and/or issued for the Cookville man.
