What Happened

Area authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a collision at Sam Houston Tollway in Harris County, TX on August 9th, 2021. Police say it happened around 3:46 a.m. A Ford F-650 operated by a 25-year-old Houston man was headed westbound on the tollway when it came across a pedestrian walking in the same lane of travel. Investigators are saying the pedestrian failed to yield to traffic and the van, which attempted to avoid the pedestrian, was unable to and ended up striking the man. He was identified as 28-year-old Terrell Smith and suffered injuries that he died from at an area hospital.
