What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at US 70 in Vernon, TX on March 16th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. Reports indicate a Honda Odyssey headed southwest on US 70 allegedly veered from a curve int he roadway before traveling through a cable barrier. From there, the vehicle entered into an opposite lane of travel before colliding head-on with a GMC Yukon. Reports say the driver of the Honda, identified as 43-year-old Than Than Shwe, died at the scene. A child passenger was one of several others hospitalized, the child later dying from their injuries. Two of those injured were later identified as 48-year-old Michael Mullens and 45-year-old Marissa Mullens. Additional information was not immediately available.
