What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 36 in Brazoria County, TX on September 13th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 6:36 a.m. According to investigators, a commercial truck operated by a 34-year-old woman was southbound on State Hwy 36, stopped in a center turn lane while waiting for traffic ahead to pass. Police allege the vehicle next pulled into a northbound lane and was backing into a driveway, blocking the northbound lane. As a Dodge Ram 3500 operated by 76-year-old Thomas McCormick Jr was approaching, the vehicle collided with the assigned side of the commercial truck, pushing it into a ditch and leaving McCormick with fatal injuries at the scene. Officials say there were no other reported injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
