What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 287 near Stratford, TX on March 29th, 2022. They say it happened around 2:45 p.m. Initial investigation revealed an SUV towing a boat trailer was previously parked on a southbound shoulder when re-entered the roadway. It began to make a left turn at a turnaround and is said to have traveled into the path of an approaching semi-truck in the process. The semi-truck struck the SUV before overturning into northbound lanes. The driver of the SUV, identified as 46-year-old Tina Hunley, was taken to an area hospital with injuries she later died from. A 45-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries while an 11-year-old passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. The semi-truck driver was reportedly uninjured.
