What Happened

Arkansas State Police are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-55 in Mississippi County, AR on August 6th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 3:57 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer headed northbound before allegedly colliding with the rear of a second tractor-trailer. Following the impact, reports say the truck left the roadway before crashing and ejecting the operator from the vehicle. The operator, identified as 44-year-old Tony Joe Rud, was fatally injured. A passenger in the other driver, identified as 28-year-old Gerardo Sauedo, had undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
