What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash at an event that killed two children at Kerrville-Kerr County Airport in Kerrville, TX on October 25th, 2021. Police say the event was called Airport Race Wars 2 and the incident involved a drag race vehicle losing control and crashing into spectators. Investigators say the 1990 Ford Mustang involved was operated by Michael Gonzales and that it lost control halfway down the race track. Two boys, age 6 and 8, suffered fatal injuries while 8 others were treated for various injuries. Police identified some of the injured as 26-year-old Chance Dean Jones, 46-year-old Rebecca Cedillo and 27-year-old Mary Kate Walls. Cedillo later died from her injuries.
