What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured at least two people at 10th St and Rufus St in Richmond, TX on October 29th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:56 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford Focus operated by a 37-year-old Richmond man was headed northbound on 10th Street before veering into a southbound lane for unknown reasons. A southbound Nissan Frontier operated by 63-year-old Honorina Paniagua attempted to avoid at the collision before it was struck by the Ford. Following the collision, the Richmond man, who had serious injuries, is said to have fled the scene on foot. Paniagua was evaluated for possible injuries while a 31-year-old passenger had minor injuries. Officers recommended and/or issued a Driving While Intoxicated charge against the Richmond man and a charge of Accident Involving Damage to a Vehicle.
