What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at  I-20 in Kaufman County, TX on December 31st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 12:55 a.m. A tractor-trailer headed eastbound on I-20 is said to have performed an unsafe lane change, causing an adjacent Honda to swerve into a shoulder. The vehicle then lost control and struck a guardrail before spinning into a ditch. A 20-year-old female passenger in the Honda died at the scene. A second woman, also 20, was seriously injured. The driver, a 19-year-old Forney man, was evaluated for possible injuries. The truck involved in crash was unable to be located.
