What Happened

Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that killed three people at I-66 in Dunn Loring, VA on September 9th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3 a.m. Investigators believe a Honda Crosstour lost control and struck a Toyota SUV before veering into a guardrail. The impact led to another collision between the two vehicles before the Honda hit another guardrail and a tractor-trailer. The driver of the Honda, 28-year-old Lacquora Smith as well as her two daughters, ages 4 and 6, died at the scene. A 7-year-old and 2-year-old were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota suffered non-life-threatening injuries while the truck driver was uninjured.
