What Happened

Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that killed a Texas driver at US 23 in Wise County, VA on June 23rd, 2023. Police say it happened around 10 a.m. and involved an 18-wheeler operated by Round Rock, TX driver, 47-year-old Shandrick Ellis. Investigators believe the truck was headed southbound prior to veering from the road for unclear reasons. After leaving the road, the truck went into an embankment and overturned.
