What Happened

Washington State Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at State Route 243 in Mattawa, WA on September 27th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 6:07 a.m. According to investigators, a box truck headed northbound is said to have left the roadway for unclear circumstances. From there, the truck is said to have overturned while attempting to correct itself. It was next struck by an approaching southbound Hyundai Santa Fe as it sat in a lane of travel. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 47-year-old Guisela Veintimilla, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the box truck, identified as 29-year-old Misael Leon, was also hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Additional inforamtion was not available.
